Tri-River Kennel was founded by me (Brett Shipley), Kermit Shipley (my dad), and his brother Curt. We have over 100 years of combined hunting and dog experience. After hunting over several different breeds of dogs, we have settled on the Epagneul Bretons as the most versitle breed for our native Kansas hunting ground. The Epagneul Bretons have provided us the most enjoyment as well as the most "Bag Limits".
Tri-River Kennel is located in the hunting heartlands of America....Salina, Ks. North Central Kansas is famous for quality combination hunts. Hunters spend many autumn and winter days in the persuit of pheasants and quail. North Central Kansas requires hunters as well as dogs to be quite versatile. Many birds have flushed unharmed while hunters are switching from high brass #6's to low brass #8's or vise versa. Likewise, many hunting dogs have run over coveys of quail while hot on a wiley rooster scent. We have determined only one breed of dog meets this strict versatility test....The Epagneul Breton!!
